Quick photo of the rack I have just sent to Joel at Ecstatic Electric for showing at the 127th New York AES Convention from the 9th to 12th October.

Ecstatic Electric can be found at booth #575

Rack has 2 of the FC500 Enhanced FET Compressor prototypes.

You can link 2 or more FC500 with the normal link pin already provided in API lunchboxes or API 500v racks and other rack types.

FC500 Function list

Comp IN / OUT / LINK Switch
True relay bypass so even when the power is off the unit is hard bypassed. Meter also is shorted out when OUT or unit OFF to protect the meter in transit. Switching to IN or LINK turns on the meter backlight. LINK position also lights the blue LED next to it.

Meter GR / +10 / 0VU Switch
GR = Gain Reduction Shown on meter / +10 shows output level with 0VU = +14dBM output for those driving high input level A/D / 0VU shows output level with 0VU = standard +4dBM output.

OUT pot is the output level control.

Meter is a 34mm round soft backlit by white LED which is nice and large for 500 series so is easy to read. No bulbs to change either.

HPF pot is a variable HPF up to 200Hz in the sidechain so the low end can be left less affected by the compression helping keep the balance of the compressed signal.

RATIO pot gives fully variable 3:1 to 20:1 ratio range and changes the threshold level to keep the signal to noise optimized.

INPUT pot is large chicken head as it sets the input level to the fixed threshold like most FET comps so needs to be able to give fine control to set the compression depth.

ATT pot is the attack control.

REL pot is the release control.
