So, does anyone know if there are plans for 500 format compressor or mic pre units from API's side project? Haven't tried the EQ yet, but compressor and mic pre are my meat and potatos

not sure what but i think they are planning other units for the JDK line, just a mater of time and timing. rather 500 format or not, well realize, i am speculating but i think so.

I guess from a speculating point of view -- if they do two versions of eq, why not two versions of the mic pre and the compressor?

I'd recommend putting a mono R22 Compressor into a module before anything else. That box is rockin!!

How does the R22 compare with the 527 -- both have the thrust feature right? I think if the two are similar I'd go with the API version over JDK ...

The R22 is a remake of the ATI Paragon compressor. It has very "mellowing" effect and has a cool softening to the top. The Thrust does what you think it does. The 527 is discrete with transformers, and has a more solid, and dense quality. It has more range of tuning compression than the R22. It has the typical API character to my ear.
