Please post suggestions here for both the LunchBoxHero forum and for www.LunchBoxHero.com (http://www.LunchBoxHero.com), including errors, ommissions, or broken links, suggested Forum topics etc.
This will help me keep track of changes and make sure things are fixed for all!
Thanks.

I think the database should have a current (as in Amps and milliAmps) column. Manufacturers should be forced to specify capacity of power supplies for the racks/lunchboxes, and current consumption for the modules. It is also pertinent to list the module current consumption per rail (+16VDC and -16VDC), rather than combined total. For example, a number of the mic preamps are converting one of the +16VDC rails to +24V and drawing lots of current from it, but almost no current from the negative rail. This unbalances the power supply loading, and maxes out capacity a lot sooner than with modules that draw equally from each 16V rail. With all of these inconsistencies, 500 Series owners need to know how to power their modules adequately.

Hello,
I see where you have the comments column on the 500 database. I think it would also be very cool to have a Forum Rating column which would show the average rating received by LBH members. It could be a star rating for example or perhaps a simple number (1-10), and could be derived via votes in a special polling area of the forum. Just an idea:-)

yes i this should be a must!!!!!
i have seen a few that were not at all balanced.
i have ask companies to make this information public knowledge, i think it is extremely important.
all end user's need to be made aware, their is a + and a - rating.
as well some companies may choose to take advantage of the 48 volts as well.
the VPR Alliance allows for 48 VDC at 5mA and this is used in some units, not a issue in any way, it is their to be used, but the end user needs to be aware.
so glad you brought this up Jens

won't be able to get to his for a few days, but i completely agree this is an important feature to have in the database. Jens and Pan60, I may need to reach out to you on exactly how best to capture the data provided by the manufacturers (if they agree to provide it).
It is suggestion like this I was hoping to get and why I have not yet sent out the manufacturer's survey which I am still tweaking.
Keeping in mind I want to try and keep the column count manageable, might I get away with just one column for "Current" and specify in the key what the provided spec means? It looks like I might need a separate column if I were to specify the "per rail" current consumption.

This is something worth considering, interesting idea. Not sure how to do it, but I will certainly ponder this concept for the site. thanks!

Yes, just one current column is fine. Simply list the contents as +#/-# mA or A, +# mA or A, and label the column as "Current @ +/-16V, +48V".
Since this is a very cool, free site born from the love and labor of a fellow 500 lover, I hate to even make a suggestion - but since you're soliciting for commentary...
I don't much fancy having to go to a splash page for entry. I really would like to just get to the site without having to click the logo graphic to get in. It's not any kind of deal breaker or anything - and I don't really feel it's my place to critique -
One other suggestion - this might be the perfect place for a 500 support group - 12 step programs, interventions, sponsor programs - 500 is totally gear crack. I don't even have my 10 spaces filled and I already crave another rack to accomodate what I anticipate buying.
This is a great site and I appreciate your considerable effort.

Thanks CWW2! Any suggestions are always welcome just not sure we can implement them all.
The splash page will be gone in a day or so and the index will go to "home" instead. If you like the logo, better grab the big one now!
I would normally be inclined to send the url right to the database, but it only takes one more click on the logo at the top, which on every page links to the DB.
This in itself is a little unusual, as a site logo usually takes you back "home" but it seems like an acceptable compromise as the DB really is the heart of the site.
As for the twelve step program, i don't know, i don't have a problem, i have been using 500 series for decades and I could stop any time. Really. Anytime. OK, gotta run now, have to go move my modules around in my lunchbox to ensure the best color combination. :D

Jens, thanks, good solution. I am going to try and implement this over the weekend. I will then post a test page to have you and pan60 check it out.
As an example, what would the readings be for your DIY modules (or would it vary depending on the build)? I will use your module in the database to demo the new column.
I am going to lose the P/S column and just comment in the description or comments section whether the P/S is int or ext for the Racks.

Hi LBH!
Great site. Looking forward to seeing it grow.
My suggestion of the day would be to have a Want to Buy / For Sale / Trade thread. You know this will go down well!!!
Sorry if this has already been mentioned and I have skim read to fast.
All the best

Hey great idea! thank you. Yes, Pan60 mentioned this too in another thread so we will be implementing it in the next week or so. There have been some delays in getting a few things geared up, but we are planning a big launch for the forum/site just after the holiday which includes some forum enhancements and new new sub-forums.
I'm thinking either "swap meet" or "bake sale" for the trading/selling forum. Any other ideas or thoughts?
keep those ideas coming!

while i fully realize i have not implemented half the good ideas already suggested here (I will, promise ) i have a couple more and wondered what folks thought.
Add Forum: "Bake Sale" - - - - a trading post for 500 series or any audio gear.
Add Forum: "Recess" - - - - Still in school :) but maybe talk about other audio gear besides 500 series stuff
Add Forum: "Schools Out" - - - - Anything goes
Merge Forums: tech talk and developers notes?
the whole "lunchbox" thing conjurs images of being in school, hence my inclination to keep the fun going :D the descriptions below the forum names will stay to make it clear what the sub-forum purpose is.

maybe a mic forum?
and how about make the "Recess" forum maybe focus around other modular system both new and old?
or a place for other modular gear.
just some thoughts.
