Thanks Futur2! Good sleuthing. A couple of those links aren't working so maybe shoot me a pm which units those were meant to reference. edit: I corrected them for you as they worked in the other thread...
Indeed it is not easy to stay on top of it, but we will get these up there in the next day or so. It's a little tough around trade show time as a bunch of new stuff hits at once, which in the end, is good for us lunchbox heros, and bad for those of us with limited time to update databases!:D
I am giving priority right now to new/planned modules. There is a ton of legacy stuff that is not in the database that I am still researching and will make it in eventually.
note : If you don't mind I am going to delete the duplicate threads in "the database status" thread. I meant to lock that thread, but forgot.

not sure if you (amongst others) mean the 550m but those are still made and sold on request by api. there's also a 550d mastering module, but i'm not completely sure if they still make it or sell it?

Yes I know about the 550m, I was just noting that there are a few legacy things up there, but at some point I would like to get all the legacy stuff up there.
I know about the 550m, but there is nothing on the API website. Also, from what I understand, the 550A is actually discontinued, and the only 550 "A" type eq's still offered are the 550PM (no hand-wired resistor pack switches) and the 550 Saul Walker edition (same as last reissue of 550A but with a signed faceplate).
Sadly, the API website is not entirely up to date as far as I can tell.

Sadly, API is very unresponsive in seeking more information and there website is not entirely up to date as far as I can tell.
you always hear this complain concerning unresponsiveness from manufacturers trying to get info about or become a member of the VPR alliance - wonder if this club still exists.
i remember when i bought my first lunchbox from vintageking it was impossible for them to find out from API if the power supplies of the lunchboxes had been beefed up or not

i do know they are slow to respond, the VPR Alliance is for every one that wants to build with in the specks.
the DIY get left out because their is no way to determine what Joe the Plumber :D has put together : )~
i spoke with Larry and he said they get requests for info but few follow through with sending a unit for testing.
plus i do know they are slow at time they are swamp just taking care of their own business.
i know their have been a few more additions to the list the last time i looked.

hi there!
danfield indeed doesn't seem to be 500 series? my personal guess is there should be a 500 series version at some point but how can it be approved then?? i've sent them an email for inquiry.

if you want to join the VPR Alliance you cam email me and i will get you the application, as well as the specs you will need.
API is trying to do the VPR Alliance approvals as a service to the 500 format community, and doing so while trying to preform their daily jobs to boot.
so sometimes getting a replay ma take a bit.
as a bit of help to those guys you can get with me and i can help you get things started, with the need information.
in the in API will still have to do the approval or not, i do not work for API in ANY WAY so that is all up to them.
their are some units that will still make list and some will not because they are outside the VPR Alliance specifications.

more info on danfield. gary brzezinski from danfield audio replied to my e-mail. this is what he wrote:
Yes, We are a part of the VPR alliance. The MX20 is a ?lunch box? compatible product. We will be releasing information about this exciting new addition to our product range very soon. The good thing about our design for the API series is that we have kept Danfields original performance specifications found in our proprietary version. It is currently the only transformer-less pre amp in the alliance (I think).
The price of the MX20 VPR is 5200 DKK or 698 EUR.

They are pretty easy to build. I don't know if I would say to tackle one the first time out...but for sure the 2nd time!
FWIW, I contacted Pan60 a few weeks back about doing a review on my preassembled VP26. The first production batch is about ready to ship out for reviews...I am waiting to hear back from him. What up Pan?? Still busy I assume.
Since the DOA is socketed, the pre's will be base priced with no DOA. You will have the option to add a Scott Lieber's SL-2520 or a gar2520 (fully assembled and tested by Gary Barnett) to the unit. Or, if you happen to have a vintage Huntington or Melville laying around, plug and play! :)
Best, Jeff

LittleLabs "VOG"
http://www.littlelabs.com/vog.html
The VOG analog bass resonance tool is the latest creation from Little Labs, and is Little Labs first entry in the popular API 500-Series module format.
The VOG was originally designed to capture the chest resonance of vocalists or voice over artists, enabling them to still have a proximity type effect without having to be so close to the mic, hence the name, VOG, or Voice of God. However, when I heard it on kick drum and bass, it became clear this would be the go to device to make these instruments sound huge.
The VOG lets users sweep a sharp peak resonance from 20 to 300 Hz, while anything below the peak is rolled off at a steep -24dB per octave. This lets users focus on the low end they want, while eliminating low-end mush and unnecessary woofer excursion.
A subharmonic can be the focus, or the fundamental, or upper harmonics. On a kick drum, for example, the overall effect of turning VOGs frequency knob sounds like someone is tightening or loosening the drumhead. In a mix, VOG allows users to place the bass spectrum instruments so they do not interfere or get in the way of each other.
The Vog should be shipping in December 2009 and will have a suggested retail price of $420.

Thnx Bendy, this looks like a cool piece.
One of my "secret weapons" is an old MXR distortion II. (The 4-knob AC powered one). The D II has a "resonance" control that works great on dialing up harmonics and sub frequencies on bass when the distortion knob is set to minimum.
It does something that no other box I have found can do.... Sounds like the VOG might fit the bill, and won't be noisy like the distortion II!
The VOG is in the DB already (needs some link updates) and I do have to add a few other things in the coming days, including the SPL stuff.

We have been using Sly?s Flickinger console for over 12 years at the KEYCLUB RECORDING CO. and absolutely love the sound of the mic pre?s. Because of multiple requests for preamps over the years we decided to start producing these modules in the popular 500 series format. Great care has been taken to keep all of the magic Flickinger tone intact, by using original spec. quality components. Because we work in the studio every day, we realized how important it is to have gear that feels as good as it sounds. That is why we focused on creating a module that an engineer would want to reach for every time on a session. The 736-4 looks amazing, feels great to use, and above all else, sounds exactly as good as the original.

You're missing a bunch of the classics!
Aengus EQ - 8 band graphic built for the oh-so-rare Aengus consoles (such as the one that used to be at Indigo Ranch). They have one of the desks for sale at sonic circus actually. Amazingly thick, powerful low end.
B&B EQF-2 - 3 band parametric plus sweepable high and lowpass filters. Kind of a funky design. Came with optional Jensen output tx.
Aphex EQF-2 - exactly the same as the B&B. I believe Aphex bought the company. Total steals if you can find them
APSI 559 - 9 band graphic with switches. Super aggressive upper mids. Awesome on guitars. Supposedly these were later rebranded and sold by API but I've never seen one of those.
APSI 561 - fixed 4 band program eq. I've never actually seen one
APSI 562 - 4 band sweepable parametric. What the Arsenal/JDK eq is based off of.

This may have been mentioned already, if so, please take this as a reminder. ;)
It would be great to add a column in the database specifing current draw of the modules.
Tim.

Thanks Mike/Tim/Pan :-)
I intend to add this info, and consoloidate some other info, in the next version of the database. This had been delayed a bit with my schedule. I have been working to get to version "2.0" but that requires some java script work, [that I kind of suck at :(] and then add this other info in an overall redesign of the database.
Not sure when that will happen, I am hoping prior to AES, and then rely on friends in attendance at AES to spread the word about LBH! :)
Jens at Eisen has also been very helpful with some suggestions on what to include, so trying to sort it all out.
Pan, could you give a a bit more info on how some manufacturers "ruse" this information. That might help me get to what is the best way to publish this spec?

i am not sure what is the best way o do it, it is easy to measure, nut then i fear some manufactories would complain, so i think just asking them and if the refuse just note that on the list.
most are not a issue as they are far below what is allowed and the few that are over are only slightly so i do see much to worry about, but, i have not had the chance naturally to look at everything.
