i was chatting with Scott LaCapell today ( about a possible future project ), and as always, tubes are a topic of subject ( LaChapel TUBES you know it, they just go together ), anyway, Scot said he was about giving away a FREE, FREE FREE FREE, upgrade to a TELEFUNKEN, or RCA BLACK PLATE tube, in place the the stock JJ tube, to proud owners of the first 25 LaChapell 583Es sold!!!!!!!!!

shipped with TELEFUNKEN, or RCA BLACK PLATE tubes in place of the JJ tube, now that is cool!

Hey Pan,

Well, yeah... waiting for knobs is so much fun. The entire lot of 583E?s is complete and sitting all lined up on the bench so when the EQ control knobs come in we'll be in business! They were supposed to ship last week but for some reason the folks making the knobs (they're a custom milled aluminum type) got a little behind... Good news is that I've ordered enough to last a while.

As far as the tubes and why one should consider NOS there are a couple main reasons I put forward.

1) New production tubes will never sound like NOS tubes. That doesn't mean new tubes sound bad or don't sound like tubes rather, NOS tubes simply have their own unique sound... period. Those looking for the sound of a Telefunken smooth gray plate can?t find it in a new production tube.

2) NOS tubes last longer. NOS tubes, on average, have twice the life potential as new production tubes do. I don't know the reason why this is but if someone wants to install a tube and not worry about replacing it for a while, NOS is the way to go.

And, all NOS tubes I install in LaChapell gear meet or exceed new test ratings; no "shady" tubes are EVER used.

Hope that help!
