Well, not much of a post really. The title about says it all. Take out the stock API OpAmp and plug in the 1122. You tell me it doesn't sound better.
I got one OpAmp off of eBay and Avedis sold me the other three. All of my 512c's now have them.
Really smooth.

It would be cool if there was a list of all 2550 compatible op-amps. Anyone know if such a list exists? Comparisons of different models and approaches would be ultra cool..

on the lunchboxhero database site resources (http://www.lunchboxhero.com/resources/resources.html) page there is a link (http://www.eisenaudio.com/diy500/tables/opamps/) to a list, courtesy Jens from Eisen Audio :D

Would the ADM opamp qualify for that list? I have some kicking around here.. pins might be a little different..

The 1122 is smooth indeed. Sometimes I do like to be slapped in the face by a 2520 though. That's why my 312's have op amp sockets. ;)
Now, try a 990C and a P Bass. :D

I have some in my Summit. Not the same thing, as they are also output drivers (no output transformer), but I find it more of a guitar than bass sound. It is an excellent DI, but I have a prototype unit that just beats most things I put up against it.
